Folksamerica Reinsurance Company (Folksamerica) a lead multi-line broker market reinsurer and a subsidiary of White Mountains Re Group Ltd., is headquartered in New York City with branch offices in Chicago, Greenwich, Miami and Toronto. Folksamerica writes property, both on a treaty and facultative basis, casualty treaty, and accident & health treaty reinsurance business.
The Challenge
Folksamerica purchased Ultimate Software’s hosted UltiPro®® solution system to replace its service bureau payroll services and manual HR processes. By implementing UltiPro®, Folksamerica hoped to automate and streamline transactional HR and payroll transactions while building capabilities for greater strategic HR support.

The successful implementation of UltiPro®, including the deployment of payroll, HR, and benefits functionality, in addition to employee and management self-service capabilities, was a critical factor in Folksamerica’s overall strategic HR roadmap. By defining Folksamerica’s overarching key business drivers and then applying Wise Consultings proven implementation methodology, the Wise and Folksamerica project teams ensured that system configuration decisions supported the organization’s immediate and broader business objectives.
With its in-depth system knowledge, Wise Consulting was able to translate Folksamerica’s short- and long-term business needs into effective system configuration. Our knowledge of best practices allowed Folksamerica to eliminate manual processes and a number of ancillary systems, including spreadsheets, that were in use throughout the organization.
Wise and Folksamerica have begun Phase II implementation efforts, including the analysis and implementation of greater self-service capabilities, including Open Enrollment, and the conversion of additional employees
